Small Business Saturday 2021
Showcasing some of my favourite small businesses in time for Small Business Saturday.
It is Small Business Saturday on 4th December so it’s the perfect time to introduce you to some of my favourite small businesses. In case you are not aware, Small Business Saturday is a non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to support small businesses. Here’s where you can find out more about Small Business Saturday.
My Favourite Small Businesses
I’m recommending all the businesses below because I have purchased from them and can 100% recommend them based on personal experience. When you buy from a small business, not only are you supporting that person’s dream, but you will also receive personal treatment that you can’t get with the big retailers.
Buying from a small or handmade businesses will usually not be the cheapest option, but you will get great customer service and a product that the business is really proud of.
Karen’s Cakes
Full disclaimer – Karen is my sister! She also makes AMAZING cakes that look and taste fantastic. I keep asking her to do a guest blog post for me with a recipe or two, so maybe she will now!
You can find Karen at lots of markets in and around Devon.

Helen Leslie Illustrator
I’ve known Helen for years, we used to work at the University of Exeter together. Helen is a fantastic illustrator and has amazing cards and prints available. I have two beautiful personalised name prints from when my kids were born, and they still take pride of place in their rooms and they are now 10 and 12!

Tandem Green
I bought a great drawing book for my daughter from Tandem Green last Christmas and was really impressed with it. I also love that they give away little freebie printouts and donate to charity.

We’re Eco Originals
I’m completely biased with this choice as I used to get a lot of my wood from the lovely couple than run this company. They are now diversifying and offering some beautiful handmade wooden creations. Everything is made from recycled timber and are true one off originals. I’m also informed that Andy will soon be the star of his own YouTube channel so I am looking forward to that.

BumbleBee Glass
I discovered this lovely company via The British Craft House, which I also sell on. Last year I purchased two make at home Christmas decoration kits, one for my daughter and one for my niece. We had a lovely time making them and now we have beautiful handmade decorations for the tree which will bring back happy memories every year and we can treasure forever.
